The Friday Fix

TGIF! After a long week of hard work, it is nice to sit down and play and win a couple of cash games or games for Skill Tokens, isn’t it?  We’ve been working hard all week too, actively fixing glitches to make the site run even better.  We sincerely appreciate you putting up with them and letting us know about them so that we can get them all fixed up and make your gaming experience even better.

Here are the fixes that we completed this past week:

  • Cleaned up the game tournaments pages. Things are aligned, and empty rows are (almost) all gone.
  • The Tournament Board was added to the right navigation bar when logged in
  • The Tournament Board not opening into a new window when accessed in the My Account section.
  • Twitter and Facebook buttons are back and working in the header.  Tied to actual clicks on the buttons, not Twitter followers or Facebook page likes.  Let’s get some more numbers up there!
  • Fixed error message typos for the tournaments.

Be sure to let us know when you come across something that doesn’t work or look quite right. We’ll work on getting it fixed asap.

Happy holidays!

New Treasure Hunt layout! What do you think?

We just finished putting together a new layout for Treasure Hunt (we know that the old one was in serious need of a face-lift).  This one would not require you guys to scroll down at all when you play it!  We’d love some feedback on it.  What do you think?  What would you like to see changed?

The Friday Fix

TGIF! After a long week of hard work, it is nice to sit down and play and win a couple of skill games, isn’t it? Well, we’ve been working hard all week too, and we want to take the time out to let you know what kinds of things were completed on the website. We understand that it can be frustrating to come across glitches on the website, but we sincerely appreciate you putting up with them, and letting us know about them so that we can get them all fixed up and make your gaming experience even better. So, every Friday, the “Friday Fix” will be published to list out our… well, fixes

Here are the fixes that we completed this past week:

  • The website no longer posts automatically back to your guys’ walls after a tournament. We know that some of you will be very relieved to hear that! Sorry about that one!
  • We took the “SkillAddiction” assets off of the forgot-your-password and registration confirmation pages.
  • As people using Chrome and Internet Explorer browsers know, the gameplay box that pops up was acting funny for a little while. It is now working properly and won’t stay up on the screen, cause delays, load a window within a window, etc. All fixed!
  • There were some funny business with certain games showing up very small. All that has been fixed.
  • The Account Statement page was fixed for easier viewing/browsing.
  • Removed the “+”s next to the account balance and token balance at the top of the billboard.
  • Fixed the pagination error on the Puzzle and Logic category.

Be sure to let us know when you come across something that doesn’t work or look quite right. We’ll work on getting it fixed asap.

Happy holidays!

Help Skillville Games on it’s Quest for Awesomenss!!

Hey all you Skillizens! (get it?  Skill + Citizens = Citizens of Skilville = Skillizens!)

We need your help!  We have entered into a startup competition that, if we won, would put us in an great position to continue doing what we do… making an awesome skill gaming community, that is!  As you all know, we have been working hard to polish and grow Skillville Games and are coming out with updates all the time.  This competition will help us to be completing these iterations faster for you guys, and growing the community of players at a faster rate.

All we need is your vote!  And, don’t worry, it’s totally easy!

Step 1: Go to http://vator.tv/competition/splash-feb-2012

Step 2: Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where the icons for the competing teams are, and locate “Skillville Games” — we are a blue icon with the logo on it.  Not too hard to find 🙂

Step 3: Click “Vote for this Company”

Step 4: Click the button that says “Sign in with Facebook”

Step 5: Put in your Facebook Login Credentials

Step 6: Confirm your vote!

All done!  That wasn’t too bad, was it?  We cannot express how much we appreciate you supporting us!  Trust us, this will benefit you and the whole Skillville Games community too!

Now that you’re a citizen of Skillville, “Like” us on Facebook! Read on for an opportunity to choose the next Freeroll!

Are you liking your experience in Skillville Games so far? If so, we’d loooove it if you’d “Like” us! You can find our Facebook page here: http://facebook.com/skillvillegames. All you’ve got to do is click that link, and then click “Like” at the top of the page. Voila!

But why would I want to do that? Well, I’m so glad you asked! Our Facebook page is going to be integral to our community. We’re building up the population of fans now, and once we’ve gotten some traction on there (with your help!) we will be running weekly contests, polls, etc. for you guys to participate in! There will be lots of giveaways, too, so we’ll make sure and make it worth your time. It will also be a way that we continually keep you updated on the goings on of the website. So, it would be a good idea to join!

And for our first Facebook contest… *drumroll please*… you get to choose what the next Freeroll is! All you need to do is 1st: head over to our Facebook page and “Like” it; then 2nd: Drop a message on the wall stating which game you would like to see the Freeroll in. Easy as that.

Make sure to come back and visit often on there… tell us what your favorite game is, or why you like Skillville Games, or something cool… and, who knows… a few extra tokens may show up in your account! (Just be sure to tell us your username)

Skillville Games Public Beta Launch and VentureBeat Coverage

Today is the day!  We have officially launched the public beta of SkillvilleGames.com.  Be sure to check it out and give us some feedback on what you think.  Keep in mind that this is still a beta product, so you may come across a few weird glitches here and there.  Be sure to report them to us right away so we can get the site pretty and polished.

We are also excited that the launch of Skillville Games coincides with a great article written in GamesBeat.  The article discusses what Skillville Games is (“On Skillville Games, players can play casual games from Solitaire to Break It, betting small amounts of money in matches against other players. Players sign up and play tournaments in an asynchronous fashion, or playing a round of a game when it suits their own schedules.”), how awesome it is, and that today is the official launch date.

We’re loving this media coverage, and want to send a special thanks to the author, Dean Takahashi, for giving us this attention.  We would love it if we could get some activity going on the article, so please visit the article and give a little feedback in the comments section below it.  We would greatly appreciate it!

Happy gaming!Image
